Het verhaal van de nieuwe Nederlandse act FREJA is een bijzondere en eentje die je niet zo snel hoort. Twee geluidstechnici (FOH)/muzikanten, C. (Witte Wieven) en W. D. (Laster, Verval en live-gitarist voor Witte Wieven), vonden elkaar tijdens het project Maalstroom dat speciaal was opgezet voor Roadburn 2019. Die ervaring beviel hen zo goed dat ze besloten om met z’n tweeën verder te gaan met het schrijven van nieuwe muziek.

Op gepaste afstand, online wel te verstaan, spreken we Johan van Hattum van o.a. Terzij de Horde, Black Decades, programmeur van Maalstroom en – we hebben een primeur te pakken – de nieuwe programmeur van ons eigen Doomstad. The darkness is not done with us and Sunday starts early with Fear Falls Burning playing the Patronaat. When you’re facing a day of black metal, it’s best to come prepared. Roadburn’s Friday had plenty of heavy and dark bands, but also saddening news during the day on Friday that affects the project that is Maalstroom.
