Dikke Schorem & Barbier referenties bij deze song(titel) van Miraculous Mule en zeker bij de video van Shave ‘Em Dry. Lekkere rauwe, bluesy rock ’n roll ook van het Londense trio. Dat komt mooi uit, want Shave ‘Em Dry staat op Miraculous Mule’s aankomende album ‘Two Tonne Testimony’ en die komt deze vrijdag (24 maart) al uit op Muletone Recording Company / Bronzerat Records.
Keren we terug naar de Rotterdamse bebaarde barbiers en het schorem: Hen zou Miraculous Mule waarschijnlijk ook zeer goed smaken. Net als wij denken dat de Londense formatie, opgetrokken rond de excentrieke songwriter-zanger-gitarist Michael J. Sheehy, niet zou misstaan op Scumbash (2018?).

“Shave ‘em Dry! was inspired by Elijah Wald’s excellent book on The Dozens; the African-American verbal tradition of toasting, boasting and cussing each other out. The Dozens’ thread runs throughout the blues, R&B and Hip-Hop. Essentially this is a song about the power of words to hurt and maim. The pen is often mightier than the Kalashnikov when it comes to getting things done. The song takes it’s title from Lucille Bogan’s 1930s song of the same name.”
